I feel like this is a trick question, anonymous! Like, if I don’t list your tumblr as one of my faves, will you then hate me? AGH.
Anyway, my general rule is, if you follow me, I’ll follow you back. Obvi, there is something in my tumblr which tickles your fancy, so by that same token I believe that we have to “get” each other’s posts/humor on a certain level. And for the most part, that has def been the case. (Except for my one follower in Japan who I unfortch had to unfollow cuz I couldn’t understand anything he was posting - Zannen desu!)
Xtina’s new single, released yesterday. At first listen, I wasn’t sure what to think. But it has been on non-stop repeat since last night, and I’m really digging it now. I like the retro house and synth stylings, with a bit of Polow’s freshness (most notably, that bumpin’ bassline) mixed in. And of course, that voice. Undeniable.
Remember all the crazy stuff you used to do when you were little? Man. I remember every weekend listening to Casey Kasem on American Top 40 with a blank cassette tape in my boom box, ready to hit REC+PLAY to gank those songs off of the radio.
I also really, REALLY wanted to be the next Michael Jackson. Didn’t everyone? I remember I would host dance parties by myself, and my Mommy would be my only audience member. She would clap her hands in rhythmic glee while I attempted to moonwalk/spin around/do a backspin on the floor/basically flail around and then be all, "OMG Rlaay-ee, dat wus soooh goo!!" And then I would think I was so badazz. When in reality, this is what I probably looked like:
What made you get a Tumblr and how long have you had it?
Well, actually, I used to have a blog on blogspot waaaay back in the day. Sort of like an outlet when I was going through some shiz. That’s how I met her. I still remember our first day hanging out in Dupont, pigging out on Chipotle and watching all the crazy homeless people on the circle. Anyway, after I quit writing for a few years, a bunchofmyfriendsinDC started joining tumblr. So I followed suit a bit later, mostly just to read all of their stuff.
It’s only lately (maybe the beginning of 2010) that I’ve started to get more active on this thing (which is painfully obvious given my posts-to-likes ratio. Unfortch, I feel like I need to lead a more exciting life to rectify that. Hah.
I’m home sick on this dreary Monday and decided I’d try and do some research on the monumental health care bill that was passed last night. Even though I work for the gov’t, I am by no means well-versed in such political matters…but I thought as a US citizen, I should try and be informed on key parts of this bill. (And trust, I could be doing much more productive things right now, such as sleeping/pigging out/playing college hoops on my PS3. Shyoot.)
So for those of you tumblrs that know much more about this bill than I do, could you please to try and expound on these points so that my wee little brain can understand?
President Obama has said this bill will save us money. (YAY!!) But if I’ve heard correctly, it appears that the provisions that were previously removed for budget reasons will be added back in. According to the Congressional Budget Office (who apparently “score” every piece of legislation impartially), if these items are added back in, the health care bill will not reduce the deficit, nor will it be deficit neutral - it would actually increase the deficit by 150-300 billion, based on their estimates. Wut? Ack. Dis does not sound good.
The numbers/accounting in the bill are confusing me. Am I understanding correctly when the bill says we are essentially going to shell out 10 years of payments for 6 years of benefits? I mean, it seems like almost all of the benefits do not start until 2014, yet we start paying taxes on everything effective immediately. Again, no sound good. It’s like I’m leasing a car for 10 years, but I have to start paying for it immeds and I can’t drive it until 4 years from now?
I watched the vote last night on CSPAN (which is absolutely ridic if you know me, LOL), and I found it quite disturbing that not a single Republican voted in favor for the bill…while there were several Democrats that voted against it. Personally, I don’t believe that that these parties despise each other so much that they would go so far as to not vote for/against a piece of legislation, especially if it is for the good of the nation. I voted for President Obama, and I believe he has so much goodwill and public opinion on his side (even though that has dwindled somewhat) that he should be able to push through any reasonable piece of legislation with at least some conservative support. I feel like the Lindsay Grahams, John McCains, and Olympia Snowes are not completely regulation-averse like many of their rabid conservatives in the Republican party, and would’ve voted for a bill that they believed in, regardless of party battle lines. Is that being too naive? Meh. Halp me.
Dearest people who have no trouble walking but who need to carefully…time…it… when they’re getting onto or off of an escalator,
When you see other people walk right onto or off of an escalator with no pause and no trouble, do you just think “WOW!!!!”?
In your pea brain?
My mommy is one of these peeps, unfortch. My sister and I always tell her there’s nothing to worry about but she always says, “OH NOOO, I peel rike my shoo or somsing get caught!” And then she giggles.
So, we won that big-azz gay charity flip-cup tournament @ Town tonight…kind of like a warm-up for this Saturday. It was a fun time and I’m pretty sure we were super nice to everyone, except at the end when the team we played in the finals had this gaysian who was all trying to call us out for not drinking enough beer. So we promptly poured more in our cups and beat them again 3-0. Solly!
Anyhoo, there were like, 200+ gays there, including many “scenesters,” if you will. At the end, a couple of them came up to us…
Gay #1: So, you guys aren’t from around here, are you? Me: Yeah, we live here, actually. Gay #2: Oh…we don’t, like, recognize you guys at all. Me: …
P.S. Our prize was a bunch of autographed Kathy Griffin headshots. Just…wow.
I’d almost forgot about this album until it randomly popped into my head a few days ago. They don’t make slow jams like this anymore…I’m trying to remember all the girls I slow-danced with to this song…while I awkwardly try to hide my boner behind my rented tuxedo pants.
“Oh, no, it’s just my…uh…cummerbund.” “You’re not wearing a cummerbund.” “…I know.”
Dayum. Memories. I feel like a high school kid again.
This is the third day in a row now that I have eaten my lunch and still been pretty hungry when I finished. And these aren’t like, total crap lunches. We’re talking lamb with brown rice and carrots, chicken with brown rice and veggies, and today, a sandwich and some chips….
I normally don’t go for Black guys (I know, it’s weird, but that’s just me), but there was this guy at the barbershop; damn. Guys, he was like a cross between Dwyane Wade and Ne-yo (I was thinking, “you can get Closer, I’ll bring the Heat”).
So he was standing up talking to another barber, and…
Woops. That photo reply didn’t quite go as I thought. :P
Anyway, homie, when you do spot him at the clurb, buy him a glass of that sparkling Nuvo. That bubbly fluorescent pink hotness just screams class. I mean, I saw Fabo, Trey Songz, Luda, etc. all drinking it recently in all their videos. Doesn’t that count for something? Plus, just look at that bottle. Luxuly.
Also, I bought some for a lakehouse trip last fall (I was lured by a Keyshia Cole ad) and it was quite tasty. No lie. I also felt like an R&B superstar immediately after imbibing.
